Band of Brothers (TV miniseries)

The Band of Brothers miniseries details, if at times exaggerated or condensed, the real-life exploits of Easy Company during World War II over the course of ten episodes, starting with their jump training at the Currahee training site in Toccoa, Georgia and ending with the capitulation of Germany. The experiences of Major Richard Winters (1918–2011) are a primary focus, as he attempts to keep his men together and safe. While the series stars a large ensemble cast, episodes generally feature one character prominently, following their particular actions during certain events (for example, the Siege of Bastogne and Operation Market Garden).
As the series is based on real-life events, the fate of the characters is the same as their real world counterparts. Numerous characters either die or sustain injuries, some of which lead to them being sent home or leaving the hospital to rejoin their comrades at the battlefront. The experiences and the moral, mental, and physical hurdles the soldiers must overcome are central to the story.

The series was nominated for nineteen Emmy Awards, and won six, including "Outstanding miniseries," "Outstanding Casting for a miniseries, Movie, or a Special," and "Outstanding Directing for a miniseries, Movie, or a Dramatic Special." The Secret in Their Eyes (2009) movie PLOT

When Benjamin's train starts to roll, Irene chases it down the tracks. She's left disconsolate as it leaves the station.

Retiree Benjamin Espósito is having trouble getting started on his first novel. He pays a visit to the offices of Judge Irene Menéndez-Hastings to inform her of his plans to tell the story of the Morales case, one they both worked on when she was his new department chief and he was the federal agent assigned to it. She suggests he start in the beginning.

The beginning is the day a federal agent named Espósito is assigned to the rape and murder of Liliana Coloto, attacked in her home on a pretty June morning in 1974. Espósito promises her widowed husband, Ricardo Morales, that the killer will do life for his crime. His investigation is joined by his alcoholic friend and assistant Pablo Sandoval and the Cornell-educated Hastings. Before they can get started, their rival Romano tries to show them up by having officers beat a confession out of two innocents who worked near the couple's apartment. Espósito has...

Back on the case, the agent finds a clue to the murderer's identity in Liliana's photo albums. He notices that the pictures from her home town of Chivilcoy frequently feature a suspicious young man named Isidoro Gómez; his eyes never leave her.

Irene finds this draft of the story unbelievable, since she doesn't agree that an agent can identify a killer by the look in his eyes; Benjamin insists all of a young man's feeling for a woman is spoken there.

Although Gómez was recently in Buenos Aires, he has left both his apartment and employment. Espósito and Sandoval travel to Chivilcoy and sneak into Gómez's mother's house, turning up his letters to her. Sandoval steals them but they contain nothing useful and, when their supervising judge learns of the illegal procedure, the case is closed.

Over an evening review of the manuscript, Benjamin reminds Irene that it was only one week later that she announced her engagement. The memory is poignant, and she decides that she cannot any more revisit the past through his novel.

A year after the case was closed, Espósito runs into Morales, and learns that he maintains daily surveillance at Buenos Aires train stations to catch Gomez passing through. Deeply impressed, Espósito successfully appeals to Hastings to reopen the case. In the end, Sandoval produces the critical insight: he realizes the names in the letters refer to players on Racing Club, a Buenos Aires football club, indicating his fixed "passion" for the team. Therefore, Espósito and Sandoval attend a match for Racing and spot Gómez in the crowd. He slips away when a Racing goal sends the crowd into a frenzy, is pursued through the throbbing stadium and nearly vanishes before he's cornered and chased on to the pitch, captured, and taken in for questioning.

Espósito's largely illegal interrogation is interrupted by Hastings, but when she finds herself looking in the suspect's eyes, she uses her status and sexuality to provoke him with taunts about his masculine inadequacies. It works: he exposes himself and takes a swing at her in the same moment he confesses. Justice seems served.

Late one night, in contemplation over his lost friend Pablo Sandoval, Benjamin gets a call from Irene asking to see the rest of the story.

In 1975, the widower sees his wife's killer on television, included in a security detail for the president of Argentina. Hastings and Espósito quickly establish that Romano, now working for a special government agency, released the murderer to settle the old score, and he insults them both, taunting Espósito for being beneath Hastings. Undeterred, she invites Espósito to offer his objections to her impending marriage plans that night. Before they can meet, however, he has to leave a very intoxicated Sandoval in his living room to run and fetch Sandoval's wife to take him home, but when the two return they find the front door broken and Sandoval inside, shot to death with a submachine gun, apparently by Romano's hitmen. To save his own life, Espósito accepts the isolation of Jujuy Province. Hastings takes him to the train station for a disconsolate goodbye.

The novel complete, Irene shares her satisfaction with the results, although she doesn't believe the scene in the train station. They agree the story lacks the right ending. Benjamin is looking for the answer to a question: "How does one live a life full of nothing?"

With Irene's help, Benjamin locates Ricardo Morales leading a quiet life in a rural area of Buenos Aires Province, and takes his finished book there. Although the widower apparently relinquished his obsession with the murder case already, Benjamin has to ask him how he has lived without the love of his life for 25 years. When Benjamin repeats Pablo's final promise to get Gómez, Ricardo hesitantly confesses that in 1975 he ended Gómez's stalking of Benjamin by kidnapping and shooting him dead.

A disturbed Benjamin starts the drive back to the city, distracted by something that doesn't seem right. Impulsively, he pulls over, leaves his car by the side of the road, and stealthily returns to Ricardo's property. He follows Ricardo into a small building set near the main house, where he is shocked to find Gómez living in a makeshift cell, undetectable from the outside. Gómez plaintively asks Benjamin to request Ricardo to talk to him. Ricardo reminds Benjamin of his promise that Gómez would never go free.

Benjamin pays his respects at Pablo's grave, then goes to see Irene with an evident sense of purpose. She notices something different in his eyes, reminds him that it will be complicated, and asks him to close the door.

Lionsgate rushed to start filming in July, due to Lautner's schedule to begin work on the last two Twilight films for Summit Entertainment. Writer Jeffrey Nachmanoff was hired to work on the screenplay, and John Singleton signed on to direct in March. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Lee Stollman, Roy Lee, and Doug Davison produced the film, and Jeremy Bell and Gabriel Mason executive produced. Lautner's father, Dan Lautner, also produced, the first film from their Tailor Made Entertainment label.

On a budget of $35 million, principal photography began on July 12, 2010 in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. Lionsgate returned to the region due to tax benefits from Pennsylvania's tax credit program, after filming My Bloody Valentine 3D, Warrior, and The Next Three Days there in 2008 and 2009. An open casting call for extras held at Carnegie Mellon University drew over 900 people in June, many of whom were teenage fans of the Twilight film series.

Many of the film's scenes were shot in suburban Mount Lebanon, and some others in Forward Township. Scenes were shot at Hampton High School in Hampton Township, a suburb north of Pittsburgh. The school's name and mascot, the Talbot, appeared in the film, as well as real students, cheerleaders, and the marching band. Production continued in Pittsburgh, Mount Lebanon, Greensburg and Hampton Township, and lasted into September 2010.

The documentary about the life of famous guitarist Eric Clapton who publicly exposed the dark side of his past as a drunk despite being directed by his old friend, Lili Fini Zanuck, was launched in Toronto.

Zanuck who knew Clapton for 25 years, directed "Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars," follows the life of the 72-year-old British guitarist from childhood to international star, through his struggle with drugs and alcohol and boy's death his four-year old in 1991.

"To see myself going through it is not easy," Clapton told reporters on Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the film debuted. "Until I stop being a drunk, I just talk nonsense," he added. In his autobiography in 2007, Clapton recounted his addiction to drugs and alcohol for 20 years, which cost him about 16 thousand dollars a week for heroin in the 1970s.

The death of his son, Conor, who fell from a high-rise building in New York, triggered him to quit the addiction. The musician who is the producer in the film, talks about his struggle by letting his life be documented and interviewing Zanuck in a movie that does not hesitate to reveal the mistakes he made. "I do not like my pictures taken, I do not like talking to reporters, I just love to play music," Clapton said. Zanuck, winner of the Oscar for "Driving Miss Daisy" in 1989 said that Clapton could not have assumed the responsibility given to him.

"For me, this film reveals about redemption - personal redemption, unlike what the community expects," Zanuck said. "No one has made him rise from despair, he did it himself," he added. Clapton who has hits such as "Bell Bottom Blues," "Cocaine" and "Layla," has won 17 Grammy Awards, and was immortalized in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. She is ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine in 2015 100 greatest guitarists of all time, after Jimi Hendrix. Pak Diru pergi ke suatu tempat yang belum pernah ia ketahui sebelumnya.

Sebuah jalan yang sepi... Banyak debu dan pasir beterbangan. Hari itu, angin cukup kencang. Ternyata jalan itu terhubung ke suatu perkampungan. Yang kumuh. Di sana sini banyak poster cukup besar yang terbuat dari kertas karton, bertuliskan “KAMI TIDAK MAU DIRELOKASI.”

Banyak laki-laki nongkrong di trotoar. Hampir semua menatap tajam kepada mobil Pak Diru yang melaju perlahan. Mereka merokok, salah satu diantaranya tampak mengelus-elus kertas yang membalut batang rokok, sebelum dinyalakan untuk dihisap.

Tepat di depan warung kopi, mobil dihentikan. Di dinding warung tampak berjejer, iklan-iklan suatu merek produk minuman, berbahankan kertas yang mengkilap.

Pak Diru keluar, duduk di kursi dan memesan minuman. Ada koran tergeletak di atas meja.

Beberapa lelaki datang menghampiri, berjalan petantang petenteng. Mata melotot. Tangan mereka memegang mobil sedan tahun 2000-an itu, berulang kali. Diraba-raba bagian depan, belakang, kiri dan kanan.

Pak Diru tidak menghiraukan. Ia tersenyum dan tetap tenang. Mukanya dibersihkan dengan tisu, karena banyak debu yang beterbangan.

Rupanya daerah ini merupakan tempat tinggal preman-preman. Udaranya bau, beraroma tak sedap.

Pak Diru mulai membaca koran, lembaran-lembaran kertas berwarna putih agak berdebu itu, dibuka satu persatu.

20 menit kemudian Pak Diru hengkang, meninggalkan tempat kotor tersebut.

Ia melanjutkan perjalanan... kembali ke jalan yang sepi berpasir tadi, masuk perempatan besar, lalu belok kanan. Gerimis mulai turun, 30 menit lamanya Pak Diru menyusuri jalan raya yang basah. Lalu menepi di dekat Toko Kertas, turun dari mobil, berlari dan berteduh sebentar.

"Pak tabibnya ada?" tanya Pak Diru.

"Ia, saya Sahroni. Silakan duduk." Tabib Sahroni sumringah, karena sejak 2 hari yang lalu, baru kali ini ada orang yang datang. Rukonya selalu sepi.

"Begini Pak, saya punya masalah. Ingin rasanya melupakan masa lalu. Apa bapak punya resepnya? Saya selalu tidak tenang kalau mengingat masa-masa muda, sewaktu masih bekerja di kantoran." ujar Pak Diru. Di atas meja terdapat kalender tahun 2017, tumpukan kertas blangko, dan 2 buah buku.

Tabib Sahroni tersenyum lebar, ia memain-mainkan buku kitabnya, diputar-putar ke kiri dank e kanan,  lalu berkata, "Itu bisa disembuhkan. Namun tidak bisa membuat lupa ke masa lalu. Hanya menenangkan pikiran saja. Ini sangat ampuh obatnya. Saya tahu kenapa bapak ke sini, saya tahu apa yang telah bapak lakukan ... mengapa hampir tidak tidur malam demi malam, mengapa tinggal sendiri. "Pak Tabib pasti bisa mencari sesuatu di kepala saya, dan mungkin bisa membantu keluar dari lingkaran setan ini. Saya seorang polisi, mengajar ilmu pertahanan ... di kota kecil bernama Tamburan. Sebelas tahun yang lalu, pernah berada di kepolisian daerah, menjabat salah satu staf. Juga jadi pelatih tim sepakbola di sana. Kembali ke rumah, rumah ketika masih kecil, 2 tahun yang lalu, untuk pertama kalinya setelah bekerja di kepolisian. Pandangan hidup menjadi terasa lain, seperti misteri besar, dan terus kian besar. Jadi merasa ingin berubah. Saya selalu tulis kenyataan hidup ini dalam lembaran-lembaran kertas folio." kata Pak Diru. "Jadi bagaimana solusinya, Pak Tabib?"

"Kembali ke rumah masa kecil?" tanya Tabib Sahroni.

"Saya pulang ke kediaman orang tua kandung di pinggiran kota yang tenang. Bapak saya dulu kerja di pabrik kertas." jawab Pak Diru.

"Baiklah..." kata si tabib yang berkumis dan berjanggut lebat itu, dan langsung memaparkan semuanya. Lalu membawa selembar kertas dari rak lemari, dan diberikan kepada Pak Diru.

"Itu seluruhnya obat herbal, alami dan ada juga yang berdasarkan kepada anjuran kesehatan konvensional. Ehe... Ehm..... Ehm.... Eeeeeehm ehm...." kata sang tabib sembari terbatuk-batuk. Ia terus batuk, dengan disengaja.

Pak Diru membaca sekilas, lalu kertas dilipat dan dimasukan ke saku. "Baiklah Pak kalau begitu... Saya tidak lama sepertinya. Mau pamit."

Tabib Sahroni kembali terbatuk-batuk, "Ehm... Ehe Ehm... Uhuoooooooo Uhuk Uhuk Huk Huk... Baiklah Pak, semoga besok-besok pikiran bapak tenang. Uhuuuuoooooooo... Uhuk Uhuk..."

Pak Diru berdiri lalu keluar perlahan.

Pak Tabib mengkerutkan dahinya, ia masih duduk, tidak beranjak. Mulutnya manyun.

Tiba-tiba Pak Diru kembali, "Pak, saya minta maaf, barusan lupa. Ini mahar buat Bapak."

Pak Diru menyerahkan 10 lembar uang kertas 10 ribuan.

Dan sang tabib pun dengan sigap menerima uang tersebut. Tersenyum lebar. "Ia, Pak... terima kasih... terima kasih. Heheheheheeheheeheheheeeeeheheheh." Tertawa terkekeh-kekeh. Ia menari-nari, berjoget dangdut di dalam ruangan setelah Pak Diru pergi. Uang kertasnya tampak tebal, dikibas-kibaskan.

"Waw... dia seorang polisi.  Mukanya mengingatkan kepada aktor film hollywood, yang juga pernah memerankan film tentang polisi. Hmmmmm..... Film kesukaanku. Bercerita tentang seorang polisi Los Angeles, yang setelah hampir dibunuh oleh pasangannya, akhirnya dipaksa untuk pensiun karena alasan medis, melarikan diri ke Texas, diminta bekerja sebagai pengawal untuk anak perempuan seorang pengusaha kaya. Waw... Wow..." ujar Tabib Sahroni, sambil terus berjoget dangdut koplo.

Sementara keesokan harinya Pak Diru mengunjungi teman lamanya, Pak Jodi dan Bu Jodi yang punya usaha fotokpi.
Tampak di sana banyak sekali tumpukan kertas, amplop, brosur, makalah, buku-buku, dan beberapa koran.

Pak Jodi sangat antusias, ia berkata, "Pak!!! Wah, senang sekali bapak ke sini lagi, itu mobil Pak Markus ya? Apa bapak tinggal di rumahnya sekarang?"

"Ia Pak, saya tinggal di rumahnya. Apa kabar, bapak sehat?" tanya Pak Diru, tersenyum ramah. "Di mana ibu?"

"Waaah, syukurlah kalau begitu, semoga bapak betah tinggal di sana." ujar Pak Jodi, bersemangat. "Ibu ada di belakang, sedang membereskan tumpukan kertas HVS dan folia bergaris... Biar saya panggilkan, dia akan senang melihat kedatangan bapak."

"Biar aja Pak, saya mau langsung pergi lagi." ucap Pak Diru, segera melangkah ke luar, namun Pak Jodi dengan sigap mencegahnya.

"Tunggu Pak, istirahatlah dulu. Sekarang waktunya bersantai. Di atas meja ada beberapa potong pisang goreng panas. Juga ada majalah ekonomi kesenangan bapak." kata Pak Jodi.

Dalam industri kertas, bagian pemasaran akan menentukan perancang dan pelaksana proses produksi  yang benar-benar berpotensi, sehingga tercipta jenis, ukuran, desain kertas yang diinginkan konsumen. Dapat diputuskan kemudian, berapa harganya dan kapan waktu yang tepat untuk didistribusikan dan dijual. Pemasaran memiliki otoritas dalam perencanaan, penjadwalan produksi, pengendalian logistik, strategi penjualan, kapabilitas alokasi/penyaluran dan servis.

Menghadapi resistensi internal, hanya sedikit perusahaan yang benar-benar menempatkan perencanaan produk, penjualan dan distribusi di tangan bagian pemasaran. Chief marketing officer mungkin mengendalikan anggaran pemasaran secara besar-besaran, namun tidak memiliki kendali atas fungsi lain, yang sebenarnya akan memberikan hasil keuntungan sesuai target.

Pemasaran dalam industri kertas, menjadi perhatian utama, termasuk para pucuk pimpinan perusahaan, perlu memikirkannya, memetakan dalam perencanaan secara umum. Menjadi konsultan merek dan pencipta ide. Merek berperan paling penting, perlu didramatisir, sehingga bisa hidup lama, beranak-pinak melahirkan produk-produk dengan nama lain tetapi masih dijaga kekuatannya oleh merek utama.

Merek adalah konsep tunggal yang sederhana, yang bisa langsung dipahami manajemen puncak sebagai pemberi keputusan, dan dapat dimengerti konsumen dengan mudah, dikenali, diasosiasi, dihayati lalu dibeli secara berulang. Mempelajari cara, menerapkan dasar-dasar ilustrasi strategi, dan mengangkat, menginspirasi, menghubungkan kepada target pasar produk kertas. Sehingga bisa memindahkan mereka ke air mata, gelak tawa, dan yang terpenting, mampu membuat konsumen melakukan pembelian secara periodik/berkala.

Konsumen saat ini memiliki banyak pilihan produk, yang hampir identik. Maka merek dan taktik membedakan diri adalah cara untuk meraih pangsa pasar, dan menang. Karena hal itu bisa memisahkan produk kertas dari persaingan, di hati konsumen.  

Menyihir  mereka dengan ajian-ajian iklan secara berlimpah ruah menyesaki media-media, hanya akan menghambur-hamburkan emosi, tenaga, pikiran dan modal. Namun dengan memperdalam, sekaligus memperluas kualitas unik produk kertas yang ada di dalamnya, memanfaatkan apa yang dimiliki, apakah itu sejarah produk atau perusahaan, merek perintis / yang pertama dalam suatu kategori, kepemimpinan pasar, bisa membuat sisi emosional konsumen terhubung.

Sejak pertama kali membuka pintu, mulai menyusun langkah. Setiap merilis produk kertas baru, ukirlah ceruk yang lebih unik. Membangun, mengembangkan identitas merek yang kuat, dengan menggabungkan kepribadian dengan fungsionalitas. Logika yang teruji dan terorganisir secara baik, ini akan membuat jalur, untuk menjual lebih banyak - dan dengan harga lebih tinggi.

Distribusi dan promosi yang meraksasa bukanlah tujuan akhir, lebih banyak konten bukanlah solusi, dan usaha yang lebih banyak belum tentu akan meningkatkan penjualan! Ini tentang bekerja lebih cerdas, tidak lebih keras, dan melakukan lebih sedikit, itu lebih baik.

Posting selebaran informasi produk kertas ke media sosial, pengumuman di jalan-jalan, menulis status promo banting harga di facebook, membuat kursus pelatihan, dan lain-lain, mungkin tidak mendapatkan hasil yang diharapkan – kecuali dengan strategi merek. Menerobos kekacauan, terbanjiri dengan informasi yang berlebihan, mungkin itu yang saat ini dialami target market / masyarakat pada umumnya.

Membuat pabrik, industri dan perusahaan kertas dan juga membangun korporasi ide. Pengusaha bekerja bersama sang penemu gagasan, menyusun strategi, mewujudkan penciptaan kuantitas dan kualitas produk, berkali-kali. Membangun kerangka kerja, sehingga ditemukan solusi dengan mudah.

Meluncurkan semacam “Revolusi” perusahaan, akibat dari fokus pada ide-ide cerdas. Daftar komprehensif bahan kimia pembuat kertas, pemasok dan indeks data, pun tertata rapi.

Hubungan antara pekerja dan pengusaha dalam perusahaan dan industri kertas, guna mencapai keseimbangan lingkungan kerja dan sikap-sikap sosial sehari-hari, dengan komunikasi aktif sedikit atraktif, mengajukan pertanyaan dan memberi jawaban yang benar, menciptakan situasi psiko-ekonomi yang berkelanjutan.

Merupakan suatu tantangan yang lebih baru, ketika harmonisasi sudah terjalin lebih baik dari sebelumnya, menjadi terampil menarik pelajaran dari perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi. Menciptakan pola pikir, menyelaraskan perpaduan sistem sosial ekonomi dalam perusahaan kertas.

Kontribusi pengusaha dan pekerja, bersama-sama memimpin organisasi, memberikan keseimbangan berharga antara peraturan dan pelaksanaan. Mengilhami langkah-langkah yang jelas, menciptakan nilai positif, berdasarkan model dan budaya perusahaan. Menekankan tanggung jawab agar terus menatap masa depan, mempertimbangkan hasrat kemauan pegawai baru, dan menyampaikannya.

Mengelola dan menavigasi perusahaan kertas, banyak tantangannya. Mungkin tidak dapat terprediksi. Namun kejayaan ekonomi harus dipertahankan demi keberlanjutan.  Pegawai, pekerja, staf, setidaknya harus mengetahui, bahwa perusahaan, bahwa kertas, adalah hidupnya. Kertaslah yang membawa mereka ke sana, ke mimpi-mimpi bahagia. Menjadi teman sejati setiap saat.

Menari-nari diantara hamparan, lembaran-lembaran, kertas yang tercipta, bertahan dalam jabatan tangan diantara pekerja, direksi dan seluruh keluarga di industri kertas, maka dunia bisnis akan dikuasai. Berenang ke pulau kertas, dimana di sana terdapat harta karun berlembar-lembar. Menuai hasil yang tidak sedikit.

Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, manajemen operasional pabrik kertas, menjadi bagian dari perusahaan hasil hutan terpadu yang besar. Permintaan kertas, mengalami peningkatan seiring dengan kebutuhan dunia yang tumbuh pesat. Persaingan di dunia, sangat ketat. Ada baiknya, kertas diekspor ke Negara-negara yang banyak penduduknya. Yang target pasarnya padat.

Pasar spesifik yang kira-kira masih membutuhkan banyak, tentu menjadi sasaran empuk bagi industri kertas, dalam ekonomi yang berkelanjutan ini, di Negara kita. Kalau harga kertas di dunia naik, kemungkinan pemain lokal akan menggenjot ekspor. Pertumbuhan ekonomi dunia sedang tumbuh.

Permintaan kertas untuk penggunaan tertentu yang lebih tinggi, patut diperhatikan. Karena angka-angka penjualan akan bergerak, tidak stagnan. Mencuri permintaan yang khusus, atau kekhusususan pasar yang lebih detil, mengerucutkan target market. Fokus pada angka-angka penjualan dan pemanfaatan.

Efisiensi perusahaan dalam hal alat, mesin, persediaan, logistic, distribusi, menjadi hal yang krusial dan tak terbendung. Memupuk keuntungan, persentase hasil. Penggunaan kertas untuk produk-produk lain, bias dibilang menjadi salah satu bahan yang harus dipelajari. Kertas untuk ini, kertas untuk itu, menjadi pengetahuan wajib para pengusaha.

Indikator kesejahteraan dan pertumbuhan ekonomi serta sosial di Indonesia meningkat secara signifikan. Hal ini akan membawa permintaan terhadap kertas, juga terkerek ke atas. Inovasi dan kapasitas produksi serta merta perlu dibangun. Pemberdayaan ekonomi perusahaan pun menjadi sesuatu hal yang sangat penting untuk diperhatikan.

Family of Val Kilmer

Val Kilmer grew up in the San Fernando Valley the middle son of three boys (Mark the eldest; Wesley the youngest). During his high school years, Wesley drowned in the family's swimming pool, an incident Val claims inspired his subsequent performance in The Salton Sea (2002). Kilmer told Interview magazine during a 1991 conversation to promote The Doors (1991) that as a child, his family had employed a veteran of the Vietnam War, ongoing at the time, as a full-time babysitter. When the man found work elsewhere, the Kilmer family lost touch with him. Through Interview magazine they made an appeal for the Vietnam vet to reconnect with them.

His family has Scottish, Irish, Sephardic Jewish, Cherokee Native American (from a paternal great-grandmother), Swedish, German and distant Mongolian ancestry. He's the younger brother of Mark and older brother of Wesley.




Kilmer is a second cousin of journalist and poet Joyce Kilmer. His paternal grandfather was a gold miner in New Mexico. He's a father, with Joanne Whalley, of daughter Mercedes Kilmer (born October 29, 1991) and son Jack Kilmer (born June 6, 1995). His parents divorced when he was 9 years old. His father, Eugene, died in 1993.

Sailor Moon VOL 3 manga topped

In American bookstores for January the third volume of Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon manga topped Nielsen BookScan's top 20 graphic novels. It was the fourth time in five months that the manga ranked #1 on the chart since the manga returned in September. In addition, Takeuchi has two more books in the top 20: Sailor Moon volume 2 at #10 and volume 1 at #16.

 In the top 20: volume 54 at #3, volume 53 at #8, and Naruto: The Official Character Data Book at #19, Naruto also had three books. The retail news source ICv2 lists Rosario + Vampire Season II volume 7 at #4, followed by Black Bird volume 12 at #6. Black Butler volume 12 (#6) and the manga-influenced Maximum Ride volume 5 (#9) round out the top 10.




At #12, and One Piece volume 60 was at #15, the 27th and final volume of Fullmetal Alchemist landed. Highschool of the Dead volume 5 makes the list at #20. Not sales at comic book stores, Walmart, and some other venues, the BookScan rankings represent sales at Barnes & Noble and other book chains, independent bookshops, and online purchases.

Walking with Carpenter’s THE THING

The doctor shouts ‘Clear’ and lowers the defibrillators onto his fallen companion’s chest. As he does this, the man’s chest opens into a gaping, jawed mouth and catches the doctor’s hands, ripping them off. The doctor falls to the floor with his arm-stumps gushing blood that’s been made from a cocktail of jam, mayonnaise, gelatin, cream corn and whatever else they used in the good old days.

A monstrous head on a spine emerges from the chest, which Kurt Russell duly despatches with his flame-thrower. Meanwhile, the man’s head acquires a life of its own, detaches itself from the burning body and grows a pair of spider legs. Once again, it’s down to Kurt to burn the hell out of the creature.

This is a scene from John Carpenter’s 1982 classic, The Thing; the film that represents the pinnacle of prosthetic and animatronic-based special effects in horror films.

Bye Bye Jennifer Aniston Pregnant Rumour

By dazzling crowds at the 64th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards in a tight-fitting black dress, Jennifer Aniston has put to bed rumours that she's expecting her first child. Earlier this month reports had suggested that the ex-Friends actress was six months pregnant by her boyfriend Justin Theroux and was apparently seen during a recent outing hiding her stomach under a wide coat

 "She wouldn’t have wanted to make a big deal but she must be so excited. "If anyone ever asked if she was worried about running out of time, she’d reply, ‘I’m absolutely having kids there’s not one doubt in my mind’.” A source also told Look magazine.

With no sign of her supposed baby bump, however, Aniston quashed the allegations by stepping out last night (29th January) in short Dolce & Gabbana LBD. Jen attended the event held at the Grand Ballroom in Hollywood with Justin, as she was up for the Movies For Television and Mini-Series gong for Five - alongside Demi Moore and Alicia Keys.

With the 42-year old slamming accusations last October that she might be expecting after being snapped leaving a clinic with Theroux, Aniston has been dogged with pregnancy rumours for years.

Talk To Dead People in ParaNorman

No doubt, ParaNorman is one of the most awaited animation movie attendance in 2012. Duo director, are names that have ever been involved in several famous animated movies. Sam Fell ever make Flushed Away (2006) and The Tale of Despereaux (2008). Meanwhile, Chris Butler, who also doubles as a screenwriter was once part of the department arts for the movie Corpse Bride (2005) and Coraline (2009). Not surprisingly, the display is dark and scary ParaNorman slightly reminiscent of those two films. ParaNorman himself tells the story of a boy aged 13 years who can talk to dead people. Although considered strange, as the city he lived threatened by a zombie attack, he was the only person who might know how to save the humans who were there.
